I don't get it. Hats off to Mayor Clifford Lee for a superb job of guiding Charlottetown throughout his tenure. His pension is well-earned. However, I can only join those who are curious about how his new appointment arose. I wonder if the premier, in his prior position as UPEI president, took into consideration the opening of a job opportunity for a younger generation university/college graduate (who may be happy to start at $50,000), instead of appointing his personal preference at the published fee.
In the end, if Mayor Lee's conscience persuades him to accept this lucrative offer, both he and the premier must adjust the pay scale to $1 per annum. It might be easier this way for the public to hold its nose. Election is looming.
