The Guardian opinion page of Saturday, July 28, 2018 carried a piece titled "Personal connections" dealing with the stupidity of automatic answering services. I feel it is a piece that should be obligatory reading for every minister, deputy minister and director of the provincial government. There are some departments that seem to me to house staff that feel they are above answering calls from we, of the great unwashed. Leave a message. That is sad.
The Premier's office is a good example of how to provide service and they do it by having a real live pleasant person answering the phone. Why can't the rest of the departments and agencies do the same? I suspect their response would be, "we're busy" and I am sure all of us know that is just so much b.s.
