Carrie Adams has announced her intention to seek the Summerside City Council seat for Ward 8, Wilmot.
Adams has been a provincial government employee for 19 years – serving in the areas of education, transportation and finance.
The avid volunteer and leader in local minor baseball and hockey organizations said she has decided to seek municipal office because she has a lot to offer the community and feels there is more the city could be doing to provide opportunity for its residents.
“The city needs to work with the residents to ensure we are moving in the right direction. Transparency and better communication with residents is essential.”
Adams noted her priorities, should she be elected, include continued infrastructure improvements for Ward 8, improved communication with residents regarding upcoming infrastructure projects, safer access to Perry subdivision and speed reduction initiatives in several areas of the ward.
She would also like to see the city improve its website and optimize it for mobile devices, a support plan for redevelopment of the downtown core, the establishment of community watch programs and continued support for recreational programs across the age spectrum.
Adams lives in Meadow Heights with her husband Shawn and youngest son, Caleb. The couple also has four grown children, Tanner, Jasmin, Hannah and Chloe.
Tyler DesRoches is currently in his first term as councillor for Ward 8. He has yet to announce his intentions regarding the upcoming November municipal election.
